Overview
Established by Dr.V.Franklin in 1997, Dr. Franklins Panchakarma Institute is an extraordinary centre for Meditation, Ayurveda as well as Yoga. Dr.V.Franklin was Kerala government's former medical officer and his institute is named after him.
The crew of therapists comprises 10 qualified doctors and 52 expert Ayurvedic therapists who are led by the Managing Director, Dr. Sony Joseph and Chief Physician, Dr.V.Franklin. The Yoga expert, Master Soorya Ravi handles the meditation as well as the Yoga sessions.
Situated at Chowara, the Research centre is about 21 km away from the Trivandrum International Airport.

Internet Access: One can access the internet with an internet adapter by plugging in one's personal laptop. There are various locations for accessing the internet including Restaurant, Library Hall, as well as the lower floor of the Meditation area. The Institute also has the provision of providing laptops in a check-out basis. Plugged-in wireless modems help in accessing the internet within the Institute. Taxi Service: To help in transportation services throughout the year, one can avail taxi services round the clock. Most of them are A/C vehicles that help the journey to be a comfortable one. The experienced English speaking drivers always guide the tourists by solving their queries. Services such as greeting the customers and helping them by carrying their baggages display the welcoming attitude of the drivers.
Ayurveda Treatment at the Panchakarma Institute : The Panchakarma Institute offers treatment for different problems such as muscular wasting, mental tensions, acidity and associated aliments, stress, Tropical Eosinophilia, Psoriasis, arthritis and associated ailments, infertility and sterility, insomnia, immune deficiency disorders, diabetics.
There is a special treatment package for purification of body, welness, slimmimg and rejuvenation.
The duration as well as the frequency of the treatment procedure are decided by expert physicians after a detailed consultation. Patients can also avail the e-mail facility by sending their medical history.
Patients undergoing treatment, need to eat proper food as prescribed by the treatment centre. An Ayurvedic vegetarian plan of diet should be followed by patients according to the detailed chart prepared by the Doctors. The high-quality medicines used for treatment, are manufactured at Dr.V.Franklin’s pharmacy itself. Drinking alcohol or smoking is strictly prohibited within the complex.

Ayurvedic Methods:
Dhara Thyla, Thakra, Ksheera: With these some medicated butter milk, herbal oils with medicated milk are poured on the forehead and is kept for about 45 minutes. It is helpful for Vatha predominated diseases, Insomnia, skin diseases, mental tension and the like.
Pizhichil: Two to four trained experts pour the lukewarm herbal oils all over the body in a special rhythmic way. It is helpful for Nervous disorders, Hemiplegia, joint stiffness, paralysis and rheumatic complaints.
Uthara Vasthi: Certain herbal oils herbal extracts etc are applied through the Uro-genital tract. It is helpful for Uro-genital diseases and Infertility.
Gnavarakizhi: It is a process by which the whole body or any specific part there of is made to perspire by the application of certain medicinal puddings externally in the form of boluses tied up in a muslin bag. Duration 25-75 minutes. It is helpful for Joint pains, loss of appetite, rheumatism and sluggishness.
Sirovasthi: Special herbal oils are poured in a cap fitted on the head for 15-60 minutes per day. It is helpful for Vatha originated diseases, facial paralysis and headaches.
Vasthi (Bhramana, Mathra, Sneha, Kashaya): Certain herbal oils, herbal extracts etc. are applied through the rectum. It is helpful for Rheumatism, arthritis, gastric complaints and paralysis.
Abhyagam: In this treatment gentle oil massage is given according to the disease for 45-minutes. It is helpful for Lack of blood circulations and obesity.
Snehapanam: Medicated ghee is given internally in a proportionally increased quantity for period of 3-7 days (Preparatory process for doing Panchakarma). It is helpful for Skin diseases, arthritis and Osteoarthritis.
Udvarthanam: This is a typical massage with herbal powders for about 30 minutes. It is helpful for Rheumatic ailments, paralysis and obesity.
Greeva Bhandhanam: This is very special bandage along with medicines for muscular and orthopaedic problems. It is helpful for Post accidental problems, Cervical spondylosis and degeneration of bones.
Nasyam: This is one of the important treatment in Panchakarma in which herbal juices, medical oils etc are applied through nose. It is helpful for Sinusitis, headaches, skin diseases and mental disorders.
Kizhiherbal leaves: Such leaves along with herbs, herbal powders, flesh of animals etc., are applied to the whole body in boluses. It is helpful for Muscular atrophy, arthritis, sports injuries and spondylosis.
Lepam (Anna, Sirajala, Siro): Special medical herbs are made into paste and is applied on the body or part of body for 20 – 90 minutes. It is helpful for Vericosity, skin diseases, insomnia, brain diseases, attrophy and muscular injury.
Anjanam: Collyrium (Paste made of Ayurvedic herbs) is applied in eyes after proper cleaning. It is helpful for eye diseases.
Accommodation
Deluxe Room : It consists of a spacious double bedded room, patio for each room, en-suite bathroom with bathtub, tiled floor, telephone, television facilities, and communal garden.
Special Room : This type of accommodation comprises a communal garden, a spacious double bedded room, en-suite bathroom, with tiled floor, telephone as well as television.
Deluxe Room A/C : It comprises a spacious double bedded room with terrace, en-suite spacious bathroom with bathtub, tiled floor, telephone and television facilities.
Panchakarma Hut : This kind of accommodation consist of double-bedded room, rounded mud huts with coir carpet floor and Herbal garden with a seating arrangement.
